Compartment Description

Compartment 33 comprises approximately 3500m of floodbank on the right bank of the River Waveney and covers an area of 180 hectares. There are no designated sites in this compartment, however a small proportion of the marshes are under ESA (Environmentally Sensitive Area) agreement, Tiers 2 (extensive grassland), 3 (wet grassland) and fen. The compartment incorporates a small number of properties in the south where it?s boundaries end immediately above the undefended community of St Olaves. Beccles Road, the A146, passes through the compartment in the south, and crosses the River Waveney at St Olaves Bridge. A public footpath partially extends around Waveney Forest in the east.
